Painted Pumpkins ( & Thirsty Thursday )

Happy Almost Friday ! Yah ! What a long week !
I have been busy trying to get fall / Halloween decorations out. Usually I am all over this by the middle of September , I'm not sure why I'm so late this year.... hmmm....something to contemplate at a later date.
Anyway, I've been kinda into painting pumpkins this year. I've never really done that before , but thanks to my BFF, Shari , I have a plethora of pumpkins ( mini ones actually) to play with.
You might remember these from my " cabinet redo" post from earlier this week.

This project started the pumpkin painting craze ! I wanted hedge apples but couldn't find any . So I just painted some pumpkins " hedge apple" color ( actually called Key Lime ). Then I painted some white to go in the little spider pumpkin holders Emily gave me last year.

Now I just can't stop ! YIKES

I had this really bright idea that I wanted black and white pumpkins with designs on them and after coming up with several ideas that seemed complicated and too time consuming , I think I finally hit on the right one.....

Rubber bands !

First, I spray painted them white. Then I wrapped the rubber bands around them in different patterns. Then I spray painted them black , removed the rubber bands and WAALAA!

Now, they are far from perfect. Some of the paint peeled off when I removed the rubber bands, but it was my first attempt , so I was pleased enough with the outcome.

These I just painted black right away, then I dipped the end of a pencil eraser in white paint and dotted it around the pumpkin. Don't you just love the leaf plates ? $1.50 for both of them at Goodwill!

Crows from the Dollar Tree. Sorry about the photography , you know it's not one of my talents . But I have been reading about how to improve it !

Here is where my inspiration came from :
Halloween - love the hedge apples !

I just did a little different combo .

As for Thirsty Thursday ... I'm too tired to mix a cocktail, think I'll just pour a glass of wine ....
