My Princess turns 3

I know , I know ...

haven't posted for a while.

I've been really busy getting ready for another sale.

Painting everything in sight .

(More on that in another post.)

 

 

Last week my little Addie turned 3.

 Where has the time gone since her parents brought her home ?

I guess it's true ,

the older you get , the faster the time goes.

 

Addie is Princess CRAZY !

She knows all of their names and what color dress they wear.

I bought her this dress

 ( after her birthday , you can never have too many princess dresses , right )

 thinking she would think it was Cinderella.

But  you really can't fool her.

She said ," it blue , but it not Cinderella."

What could I say ...

She knows her princess'.

Once again , I was in charge of birthday cakes and cupcakes.

Addie has so many people that love her ,

that her Mommy decided we should have two parties .

( ... I had nothing to do with that ,,,, )

Sooo...

I made not one but two cakes .

Now,

 I am NOT a cake decorator.

AT.ALL.

I was really a little nervous whether I could pull this off.

 

 

I was going to make her a princess cake ( make that 2 )

I wanted to make the old fashioned "Barbie " cakes like I had when I was young and my girls had too.

This is what I came up with .

 

Then ...

 I made another one.

My mantra became ,

Frosting is like spray paint , it can hide a multitude of sins.

If I didn't like the way it looked ,

I just added more frosting "stars" .

 

I used my go- to wedding cake batter  and butter cream frosting recipes.

It wasn't really a Princess Cake , but close enough I guess.

When grandpa walked in with the cakes ,

her eyes got big , and she said ,

" I get a fork ! "

Of course Mommy said, " No!"

But it was all this Grandma needed to hear :)

 

My princess has come a long way from then,

 

to now...

 

Time needs to slow down !

Really ,

it does!

 

 

 

 

 



 

Addie and the New Babies

Sorry I've been MIA lately.

The stress ( not really but can't come up with a better term ) of selling my building and closing the Curves has left me unable to focus.

Throw in a couple more curves balls and I've been a basket case on a roller coaster.

Does that make sense ?

Probably not , but it's how I've been .

Until yesterday.

There is something about my Wednesdays with Addie that make me happy , happy, happy.

That child actually makes me feel physically full of joy.

Could it be her magic wand ?

She is in love with Mylo .

My wild child has become a boomerang child and with her came her dog....

Wonder why I'm crazy ????

Anyway , Addie LOVES Mylo ( her aunt , she is still not figured out ).

She tells him all the time , " Myo ,  ( she doesn't say the "L" ) I love you so much , you a good doggie . "

How cute is that ? !

Princess Addie wanted to play....

Mylo wanted to sleep ...

Tippy had a baby.

Well , she had a few .

We didn't think any survived.

We thought she was a terrible mother.

Surprise !

Then My ( Emily ) showed up with this little fluff ball.

Surprise again.

Addie had animals everywhere to play with.

Fluff ball does not have a name yet,

nor does Tippy's baby.

I asked Addie what kitty's name should be , she said 4.

I think we will come up with something different.

We also did a little gardening.

Addie loves to dig in the dirt,

sometimes where she is not supposed to.

Grandma got a blister.

But....

We have the COOLEST garden boots E*V*E*R !

We did have a mini catastrophe.

Addie got a sliver in her foot.

4 adults , 2 ice cubes , and a Pinterest suggestion ( the jury is still out on how effective that was ) later,

it was out and she was having a cupcake .

Every things better with ice cubes and cupcakes ....

3 Crisis and ... my Wednesday with Addie

Yesterday was Wednesday.

My favorite day of the week.

My day with my darling baby girl.

She isn't a baby though and she will tell you in no uncertain terms!

" Addie a big girl Grandma! " she tells me.

And she is right .

She's is getting so grown up . ( 2 1/2 )

What a little helper she is turning out to be too.

She loves her swing ( which I posted about a couple weeks ago )

We spent quite a bit of time swinging.

I was trying to sing  to her  ( trying being the operative word here )

Just a Swingin' , remember that old song.

If not , don't worry about it , I just dated myself there.

Anyway , she wasn't impressed...

Finally I got her out of the swing with a bribe of BUBBLES !

It was so windy , all you had to do was hold the wand up and a million bubbles went floating on the air !

I not sure who had more fun , Addie or me .

She kept saying , " darn wind "

 We defiantly had crazy wind hair !

Good thing I wasn't in the pictures..

It was bad !

Then we planted some flowers.

I know ...

It's Iowa and only the beginning of April.

I know better.

But I just couldn't help my self !

I bought some violas at Kmart.

Violas are tough little guys , so even though it is supposed to get in the 30's tonight, I think they will be fine.

If not .... I did know better.

Anyway I potted them and Addie watered them.

No pictures, my hands were dirty.

And let's just say they were watered REALLY well.

I should have been paying closer attention.

Like I said , Violas are tough little things....

And they look soooo much better on my farm table than those silk hydrangeas I put there.

You know how I can tell none of my really close friends read my blog ?

If they did , I would have had TONS of comments when they saw the post with the silk flowers.

I am NOT a fan of silk flowers to say the least.

But it was too cold here for any thing else.

So I broke my own rule.

NO silk flowers outside !

It drives me CRAZY...

So now I won't drive myself crazy...

The silk hydrangeas have been replaced by REAL , living ( for now ) Violas !

We also planted a white Bleeding Heart in the Moon Garden.

I'm sure it will be fine.

It was quite a chore keeping Addie from picking the "hearts" off the Bleeding Heart !

She said " look Grandma , hearts . Addie LOVES hearts!"

And I said " look Addie ... dandelions ! "

Crisis averted ...

Have I told you Addie loves chalkboards as much as I do ?

She found my Wine Cork Chalkboard , well it wasn't really hiding, it was leaning against the wall because I haven't done anything with it yet....

Anyway , instead of writing on it , she wanted to pull the corks off...

Nope, not gonna happen ,  those took me too much time to glue on .

Sooo....

I got her chalkboard out and gave her a container of wine corks....

Most people's grandchildren play with building blocks ....

 Not mine, mine play with wine corks.....

Another crisis averted.

To round out our crazy eventful day...

We dyed Easter Eggs !

Emily loves to dye eggs. ( I really mean that , seriously , she does )

 And Sarah got there in time for the craziness fun.

The blue dye was in front of Addie.

We had a LOT of blue eggs.

And she had really blue fingers....

But...I wrapped a towel around her to save her clothes.

Smart Grandma , huh?

"My" ( Emily ) likes to put designs on her eggs with crayon.

When I said we were going to use food coloring instead of one of those kits with the pellets,

 she said,

" but Mom, then we won't have the crayon to make designs with "

 ( this is my 22 year old speaking )

Sooo....

I took the white crayon from Addie's crayon can .

( that's right, can , not box , we're odd , remember? )

Crisis #3 averted...

Beautiful , huh ?

Wednesdays are wonderful !

( Seriously , I mean that too .)

If I wasn't sarcastic all the time, I wouldn't have to put those disclaimers in , right?

Finally , a Completed Pinterest Project

Ever have one of those days where absolutely nothing goes as planned?

Of course you have , everyone has.

And I had one today.

We are leaving tomorrow for a trip to New Orleans ( super excited about that ! ).

As you can imagine, I had tons of things to get done.

Including laundry.

The dryer quit.

Then Hubs broke the water line to the washer.

Not a good start to a busy day.

But it all turned out fine.

We had a spare dryer ( whole other story ),

 Hubs fixed the plumbing ( he is very handy ),

the laundry got done !

I haven't even begun to pack , but my house is clean.

I like to come home from a trip to a clean house.

Anyway , it was another gorgeous day day here in the trailerhood.

80 degrees again !

I'm hoping Mother Nature isn't just messing with us.

It made me ambitious to do a project.

A while back I had pinned this project

and I have been wanting to create my own.

Well, a friend brought this into the store a few weeks ago

and the only thing I could think of is this would be so much better as a chalkboard !

Out came the chalkboard paint.

It only took two.

If I use chalkboard paint on metal or glass I give it a least 3 but usually 4 coats.

Remember that garbage bag of wine corks ?

Well they came out again too.

I don't know why I didn't take an "in progress" picture !

Geez....

I am VERY happy with how it turned out.

Fun , huh?

Not sure where I'm going to put it yet.

Just glad it's done and out of my head !

I'm not sure what makes me happier,

the way this turned out or

that I finally created something that I pinned !

Also today...

Grandpa hung Addie's swing for her .

She loves it.

We couldn't find her sunglasses and she hates the sun on her eyes so Grandpa put his hat on her !

How about those boots !

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful day as much as we did !

I'm off to the Big Easy !

Wednesday with Addie.... and a few "Pins".

We had a beautiful day here in the Trailerhood.

Close to 80 degrees, that's 30 degrees above normal.

I'm not complaining, I'm loving every minute of it.

I found some ADORABLE boots for Addie today.

I bought her some last week at the farm store but they were too big.

I was going to return them and get a smaller size,

but then I found these on clearance and decided I would keep the others too.

She'll grow into them eventually.

How cute are these ?

Now I don't have to worry about her shoes getting ruined at Grandma's house.

We spent most of our day outside.

Notice her "new" sippy cup.

She found this honey bear in my cupboard ( I have no idea what I was saving it for).

She said " A NEW sippy!"

Whatever... it made her happy.

She most have opened and closed it 100 times !

She loves Tippy too.

Neither one of them would look at me ...

Eyes closed.....SIGH....

Someone thinks they are pretty special, huh ?

I started a new Pinterest board , I call "For Addie".

( Like 31 Pin boards weren't enough, right? )
